On December 22, 2015 my daughter Beta was born. Many people say their children inspire them, which is a cliche statement due to the obvious context. Considering life inspires all of us, it’s a given that our children will change our outlook on life and how we approach what we do. Instead of simply saying “my children inspire me” (because of course they do), I wanted to make Beta apart of this first series. The textures in my work always come from my own photography, so it was only natural to use the first photos I took of Beta as the surfaces for this project.
